Conversation with painting is part of an extensive project in which Sian aims to perceive the sonic properties of painting. The works form in performance in which Sian applies traditional gesso to over stretched canvas. Sian is exploring the variations of sounds within painting through the layers of gesso and wants to challenge the preconceptions that painting is a primarily visual medium. The project's ultimate aim is to produce an orchestral formation of paintings utilising various aspects of paint application.
