Sian Lyn Hutchings

Composition of paper is part of an extensive body of research in which Sian is interested in the process of recycling composition. She has been making her own paper using traditional European paper-making techniques to use as an instrumental tool in homage to Fluxus artist Benjamin Patterson's work 'Paper Piece' 1960. Each performance is another iteration of the original paper performed and then moulded back into its original form. Sian is working with artist and Paper technician Chun-Chao Chiu and is consulting Paper Conservation students to examine further developments of the work. Sian is interested in using these performances to transfer the aural architecture of the space and generate an environment in which her audience can dissociate from the visual noise of society.
